weird rules for HIV patients...
There’s a weird rule of the government where if a patient wants, he/she can ask the doctor to not disclose his/her HIV status to his / her spouse…!!!! We have faced this problem many times during our post graduation years… we have come across not only men but even women who have turned out to be HIV +ve and then have asked us not to disclose this to their spouse, thus endangering and sort of ‘helping’ him/her to create one more HIV patient or maybe even more through their children… but then who can put this in the head of the non medical persons (morons) sitting at the head of the government and human rights organizations… when we look at the unsuspected spouse of the HIV +ve person we feel so sad for the person and are often filled with rage against the patient…but then nothing more can be done… would like to know comment of the readers regarding this…

its true....most of the officials r illiterate...
the ministers r jus sittin ther 4 gainin money n nothng else...
even the educational minister is a moron...
they go on introducin some meaningless rules cuz of wich the so called "their janata" comes in trouble...
actually an awareness campaign shud be arranged by NGO's 4 these guys first rather than the adivasis...wat say???the adivasis are better than them
or else they shud end up in trouble bcuz of such rules created by themselves... for eg. the spouse of the person who has made such a rule shud end up being HIV+ widout lettin him know !!!!hahaha...
Are you sure about the rule?
In the US MD can request the pt for volutarily disclosing the info, but if the pt refuses MD is suppose to refer the case to ID personnel. Please look into the matter seriously, as it seems highly unlikely.
well in india or atleast in maharashtra thr are vctc centres which do HIV in bmc run hosp. they have such rules and they claim such rules extend to all other hosp. too.... the vctc persnnel whn question say that they counsel the patients...but i doubt if the patients take it tht seriously...
I do agree with u...the rule needs to be changed, the spouse of the infected person has to be informed about it which might reduce the chances of infection being spread...atleast upto to some extent...But for now we have to live with wat it is till the government realises the need for it.
